the

restaurant

Food and drink is our passion and it’s what the Chequers is all about. We have an amazing team of chefs in the kitchen all of whom are absolutely passionate about creating the tastiest and most interesting food they can.

Our food is seasonal with longstanding favourites and monthly changing dishes too  – blink and that favourite dish you had the other night might have already been replaced by another creation.  Nothing gives us more pleasure than a customer struggling to choose from our menu because it all sounds so good!

Whether you fancy a burger and a pint or a 3 course restaurant experience – you’ll find it on our menu.  Fish and Chips and a bottle of Chablis – no problem!

Below you will find a sample menu. Please contact us for our current menu.

Our team works tirelessly to deliver to our customer excellent quality food and exceed every day even the best expectations.

Almost 400 years of history...

the bakehouse

The Bakehouse is one of the oldest parts of the building and dates back to 1640 when the Chequers was a farm and used to bake bread for the village - the original oven still remains. Now the Bakehouse is a cosy, intimate restaurant with a log burner for cold nights and bifold doors onto our lovely cosy terrace on warms days and nights.

Cosy and intimate...

the snug

The Snug adjoins the Drawing Room and offers cosy dining with an open fire in the corner of the room.

Elegance...

the drawing room

The Drawing Room is just off The Snug and doubles as intimate dining for smaller tables as well as being able to accommodate private parties for up to 22 guests.  It is also perfect for informal buffet parties for up to 45 guests when combined with the Snug.

Private...

the garden room

The Garden Room is just behind the main bar and offers private dining for up to 12 (14 cosy)  guests on one large table.  It also features French doors onto our pretty terrace -  perfect for summer drinks before dinner.

Fish and Chips and a bottle of Chablis
– no problem!
